Thermometers and Temperature Instrumentation

Thermometers come in several styles for measuring temperature and temperature gradients in industrial applications.  Thermometers may mount in control panels or can be placed directly in process media to take temperature readings. There are also non-contact styles that use infrared technology to measure and monitor temperature up close or at a distance.

Industrial Thermometers and Temperature Gauges

Branom Instrument Co. is an authorized distributor of thermometers from WIKANOSHOKTaylorWinters, and Weksler. Industrial dial thermometers work on one of three principles: bimetal, expansion, or gas actuation. Each style offers versatility for use in a range of contact measurement applications.

There are several considerations in selecting a thermometer, including style, scale, temperature range, and operating environment. Our instrumentation experts are available to help you find the best option for your temperature monitoring application.

  • Bimetal Thermometers: These dial thermometers convert temperature into mechanical displacement and feature bimetallic helix coils that deliver high sensitivity for accurate readings. Bimetal thermometers provide a simple yet effective option for use in general temperature monitoring applications.
  • Industrial Glass Thermometers: Glass expansion thermometers have a hermetically sealed window containing a capillary tube filled with mercury or other reading fluids that expand and contract with temperature changes. These universal thermometers provide precise readings and come with or without a thermowell.
  • Gas Actuated Thermometers: A general-purpose thermometer that contains hydrogen or helium gas enclosed in a contact bulb.  This style is also available with a capillary tube for remote reading and is ideal for measuring the temperature inside tanks or pipelines.  Gas actuated thermometers are easy to use and provide accurate readings.
